Lexicon Brand Manager Lauren Hoffmann is the host of The LeXFactor Briefs, looking at what’s making news in the legal industry. In this episode, Lauren and co-host Brad Paubel, Lexicon’s chief information officer, take a look at a developing trend where law firms need to be prepared for a wave of associate departures in the coming months, especially at firms that have taken a more hardline approach on office attendance.
Many associates are waiting to see what the return to the office looks like at their firms. Even now, associates have already left some jobs due to less flexibility with remote work. More departures are expected once even more firms begin to implement return-to-office plans. The summer is still unseasonably busy, and some in the legal industry feel there’s a lot of pent-up movement on the part of candidates. A fear of “mass exodus” may propel some firms to make their office return policies more flexible—even if they have already announced their plans.
